Self-hardening oil is the most common oil to use as it gives a nice shine to the surface. Apply a thin layer, rub it into the woodwork (always check instructions for use) and leave overnight. Keep going until the stock no longer draws oil. The oil gives the stock new life and makes the stock look elegant and well-maintained.
The company behind Scherell saw the light of day in 1834 under the name 'Jagd- Und Sportswaffenfbarik Scherell & Co'. The man behind it was the leading gunsmith in Germany, Oswald Scherell.
